Longarm Quilting Service

WHERE
My Quilting Studio is based at my home in  Drumquin  Co. Tyrone, and I have owned a Gammill  Longarm since 2001.  I started with a small Premier hand guided model, and, now have a Optimum Statler Stitcher, and a hand Guided Classic Plus.

EXPERIENCE
I trained on my Gammill machines with my excellent Dealer, and have continued to take further training with Linda Taylor in Texas, and on two occasions with Sharon Schamber when she visited Ireland for week long Seminars. Further classes have been taken with various different Tutors in Both Houston Texas and Rhode Island.

I have entered Competitions, taking a First place, two Second place, a Third, and three Highly Commended awards over the years. I have also had a quilt Juried into an Exhibition in Houston, and then travelled for twelve months to various venues in the US.

I have Quilted many quilts for customers, family and friends over the last seventeen years, as well as a number of ‘Townland Quilts’, now found hanging in various Museums, Community Centres, Churches and Hotels.

Ask a Question

Thread
I have an extensive range of 100% cotton threads , and I will endeavour to match the thread to your quilt, unless you prefer something different.

Backing and Wadding
I have available for purchase the following Wadding.

  • Hobbs Polly
  • Hobbs 80/20
  • Warm and Natural 100% cotton
  • 100% Wool
  • Bamboo
  • Alpaca/Cotton

My preferred wadding for Quilts is Hobbs 80/20, but will use Hobbs Polly (a slightly cheaper option) for quilts for young grandchildren. It’s light, warm and washes and dries easily.

Anything really special gets Wool.

We can discuss your preferences.

Ask a Question

I also have available a range of Wide Backing Fabrics for you to choose from.

Should you prefer to provide your own backing and wadding, you are welcome to do so, but you must ensure that both the wadding and backing are 4” bigger than your quit top on ALL four sides. This allows me to attach to my machine for quilting.

The quality of the finish of your quilt will be enhanced by the quality of your backing and wadding. Backings should be a good quality 100% Cotton

If you are supplying your own, please provide as three separate pieces.... ie. Top, Wadding, and Backing

If your backing needs to be pieced, it is less costly for you to do so yourself, and please make sure NO selvedge is left on the fabric through the middle of the Backing (is OK on the outside edge),and that your Backing is square, 4” bigger than your quilt top on ALL sides and neatly pressed.

I enjoy passing on my skills to my own students. I Can offer you classes for all levels of patchwork experience, and particularly enjoy teaching those that are just beginning their patchwork journey.

Should you have a particular skill set that is not offered here as a class that you wish to learn, please do not hesitate to discuss your requirements.
